The 1982 Ethiopian–Somali Border War occurred between June and August 1982 when the Ethiopian military, supported by a few hundred rebels invaded central Somalia and captured several towns. The fighting was a catalyst for U.S. military assistance in Somalia, which brought a halt to the clashes.[1][2]
