1997 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III
Main article: 1997 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone
The Group III tournament was held March 26 – 30, in Doha, Qatar, on outdoor hard courts. The eight teams were divided into two round-robin pools. The top two teams from each pool advanced to a promotion pool, while the bottom two were placed in a relegation pool. In contrast to earlier (and later) practice, the promotion and relegation pools took the form of play-off brackets, instead of using round-robin play.[1]
