The 2016–17 Indian Women's League preliminary rounds will be the qualifying round which will decide the two teams which will officially enter the Indian Women's League for the inaugural 2016–17 season. The preliminary round will feature 10 teams which are split into two groups of five teams each. The top team from each group will qualify for the Indian Women's League proper.[1]

Eastern Sporting Union and Rising Student FC qualified for the final round.[2]
