Ato Abay Weldu is the current president of the Regional state of Tigrai, one of the nine states of the federal democratic republic of Ethiopia.[1] He is also currently leading TPLF (Tigray People Liberation Front).[2]

Abay Weldu joined TPLF in the late 1970s and has served as member of the executive Committees of EPRDF and TPLF since 2000.[3]
