Cartosat-2E is seventh of Cartosat series of Earth observation satellites to be deployed in sun-synchronous orbit.[2] Its main purpose is to collect high resolution large-scale maps which will be used for urban planning, infrastructure development, utilities planning and traffic management. [3] An amount of ₹ 160 Crore has been allocated for the project.[4] The satellite is expected to be launched in December, 2017.
Payloads
The satellite carries a panchromatic (PAN) camera capable of taking black-and-white pictures in the visible region of electromagnetic spectrum. It also carries a High-Resolution Multi-Spectral which is a type of optical imager.[5] The satellite would have spatial resolution of 0.6 metres.
