Channel 8 is a digital terrestrial television channel operated and owned by RS Public Company Limited. It offers entertainment, foreign TV series and sports.
Channel 8 was first launched as free-to-air satellite channel on 5 January 2011 and is available on both C and KU band.[1]
Channel 8 has many popular programs on its listing including HBO World Championship Boxing and many domestic and self-produced programs.
History
Channel 8 started its test broadcasting on satellite platform in December 2010 before it officially launched on 5 January 2011 as a 24-hour, free-to-air television channel.[1]
On 17 August 2013, Channel 8 was upgraded to HD using BT350 million for upgrading its production and broadcasting equipment. Its HD channel was broadcasting on Thaicom 6.[1][2]
In December 2013, RS won a license to broadcast Channel 8 on the digital terrestrial television platform in the Variety SD category.[3]
Channel 8 officially launched its digital TV channel in May 2014.[4]
Programming
Channel 8 aired both foreign and Thai dramas. Many foreign series are Korean, added with Thai dramas which is its own produced. Its flagship sport content is Boxing. Channel 8 aired boxing programs from HBO and UFC, in addition to its own producing boxing programs. [5]
