Dr. Daniel S. Papp was the President of Kennesaw State University (KSU), a position he has held for 10 years. On May 10, 2016 he announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2016, after auditors had found that he had been given over $500,000 of deferred compensation during his time at the school.[1] [2]
Education
Dr. Papp is a Phi Beta Kappa. Graduate of Dartmouth College with a bachelor's degree in International Affairs in 1969.[3] In 1973, Papp received a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the University of Miami.[3] He is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Career
Early career
Dr. Papp's first position in academia was as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech in 1973.[3] Papp also has held visiting and research professor positions at Fudan University, in Shanghai, China; the Center for Aerospace Doctrine, Research and Education at the U.S. Air War College, in Montgomery, Ala.; the Strategic Studies Institute at the U.S. Army War College, in Carlisle, Pa.; and the Western Australia Institute of Technology, in Perth, Australia.[4]
In 1990 he became the founding director and professor for Georgia Tech's Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. Papp remained a professor at Georgia Tech until 1997 when he was appointed interim president of Southern Polytechnic State University.[4]
President of KSU
Prior to his appointment at KSU, he was the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academics and Fiscal Affairs to the University System of Georgia.
