Gecarcinucidae is a family of true freshwater crabs.[2] The species in the family Parathelphusidae is now classified in the family Gecarcinucidae,[3] by placing subfamily Parathelphusinae. Family Parathelphusidae is now considered as a junior synonym.[4]
