Oscar A. Carlson High School in Gibraltar, Michigan, United States, is located near mouth of the Detroit River at Lake Erie. It is a member of the Gibraltar School District, serving the five municipalities of Gibraltar, Flat Rock, Woodhaven, Rockwood, and Brownstown Township. It is a member of the Downriver Consortium along with nine othercompetitve high schools and local community colleges.[1]
The school has approximately 1200 students and 48 faculty members. The award-winning yearbook is called Ebb Tide.[1] The school features community programs such as School to Work and the Renaissance Program.
Sports
Carlson has had recent success in their sports programs. The competitive cheerleading team has won a total of eight Division two MHSAA state championships (1995, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015). The boys' basketball team has recently won the Class A district championship (2012 and 2013). The girls' volleyball team also won the Class A district championship in 2012.
