Kheta Sarai is a town and a nagar panchayat in Jaunpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Demographics
As of the 2001 Indian census,[1] Kheta Sarai had a population of 16,228, 52% of which was male, and 48% females 48%. Kheta Sarai has an average literacy rate of 50%, which is lower than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy is 59%, and female literacy is 40%. In Kheta Sarai, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. Khetasari was chiefly under the control of the Muslim rulers of Jaunpur, who established the hotels known as sarai. Akbar commissioned the digging of a shahi pond 3 km from the main Jaunpur road.
Khetasarai is famous for the production of Parval and Kharbuja. During the time of Aurazjeb 90% 0f Hindus converted to Rautara Pathan.
The Angira Rishi made his temporary ashram on the bank of a pond called rishi talab situated on the west side of town.
