Licheninase (EC 3.2.1.73, lichenase, beta-(1->4)-D-glucan 4-glucanohydrolase, 1,3, 1,4-beta-glucan endohydrolase, 1,3, 1,4-beta-glucan 4-glucanohydrolase, 1,3-1,4-beta-D-glucan 4-glucanohydrolase) is an enzyme with systematic name (1->3)-(1->4)-beta-D-glucan 4-glucanohydrolase.[1] This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction
- Hydrolysis of (1->4)-beta-D-glucosidic linkages in beta-D-glucans containing (1->3)- and (1->4)-bonds
This enzyme acts on lichenin and cereal beta-D-glucans.
