Making Waves Academy is a charter school that is located in Richmond, California. Making Waves Academy has a middle school and high school. The Academy started in 2007.[1]
Middle School
Making Waves Academy first started in 2007 with 100 fifth graders. Every year there is a lottery where 100 students are accepted to attend the school. Kids that do not make it, are put onto a waiting list. Making Waves Academy Middle School starts at 5th grade. The latest that a person on the waiting list can be accepted to the academy is 6th grade. There are approximately 400 students from 5th grade to 8th grade.[2]
Upper School
Making Waves Academy refers to "Upper School" as high school. The Upper School serves 9th to 12th graders with an enriching education. They currently offer a variety of sports including: Boys' and Girls' Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Cross Country, Boys' & Girls' Basketball, and Boys' & Girls' Volleyball. There are currently approximately 400 students in the upper school. The Upper school started in 2011.[3]
