Ophiusa discriminans is a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in Brunei, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and in Australia in the Northern Territory and Queensland.[1]
Description
The wingspan is about 60-65mm. Head and thorax reddish orange with grey palpi. Sides of head chestnut colored. Abdomen orange with a black dorsal patch near extremity. Fore wings greenish orange with reddish outer third, slightly irrorated with black. A faint outwardly oblique, sinuous antemedial line and inwardly oblique crenulate postmedial line present. Orbicular is a dark speck and reniform is greyish with dark edge. Two grey and black sub-apical spots and a series of grey sub-marginal specks found with a large grey patch at outer angle. Cilia greyish. Hind wings orange, with broad sub-marginal fuscous black band.[2]
The larvae feed on Melaleuca species.[3]
