Ponnampet is a town in the southern part of the district of Kodagu in the state of Karnataka. It was originally named after Diwan Cheuppudira Ponnappa as Ponnapett.[1] It had a population of approximately 26,313 in the year ????. A college of forestry formerly a part of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, now with the University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shimoga is located here. Coorg Institute of Technology is located in ponnampet. A hill known as Kundah overlooks the town. Others schools and colleges located here are 1.Appachakavi Vidyalaya 2.St. Antonys school 3.Sai Sankar Institutions
