Russ Vitale (born September 26, 1992), better known by his stage name Russ, is an American hip hop recording artist and record producer.[1][2] He is one of the fastest growing artists of 2016.[3] He is part of the DIEMON Crew, a rap group.[4][5][6] His Soundcloud page has garnered over 40 million listens since its inception in 2014.[7] In 2016, Russ signed to Columbia Records.[8] He later released the single "What They Want."[9]
Early life
Russ Vitale was born October 29 1992 in New Jersey. He is of Italian ancestry.[10] He has also lived in New York, North Carolina and Kentucky.[11] Russ started writing raps in his notebook at 7 years old and started making beats when he was 14.[12] He recorded his first song at 18 years old.[13]
Musical style
His early inspirations were G-Unit, 50 Cent and Eminem. He hopes to one day collaborate with Drake, The Weeknd and Kanye West.[13]
Plagiarism
At the end of August 2016 Russ became known in the polish media. His clip 'Losin Control' (from February 2016) was accused of being a plagiarism of the clip 'The Fib' (released in September 2015) created for the song of polish electronic music group Rysy.[14][15][16][17] The alleged similarities relate to the script, characters, film techniques, shots and scenes. The creators of the original version of the clip announced a lawsuit.[18][19]
