The Stopmolophidae are a family of true jellyfish from the West Atlantic and Pacific containing a single genus, Stomolophus.[1] In addition to the species listed below, Nomura's jellyfish (Nemopilema nomurai) was formerly included in this genus, though now it has been placed within the Rhizostomatidae.[2]
Species
According to the World Register of Marine Species, Stomolophus includes two species:[3]
- Stomolophus fritillarius
- Stomolophus meleagris - the cannonball or cabbagehead jellyfish
