The Martyr is a sculpture by Auguste Rodin. The sculpture was modeled in 1885 and depicts a naked dead or sleeping female figure in blackened bronze.
Originally conceived as part of The Gates of Hell, Rodin removed the figure, and created an enlarged independent version.[1][2] The figure currently is held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art.[3]
