United Nations Security Council Resolution 168, adopted on November 3, 1961, after the death of Dag Hammarskjöld his term of Secretary-General still needed to be filled, the Council recommended that Burmese diplomat U Thant be appointed as acting Secretary-General.
The resolution was adopted unanimously by all members of the Council.
