Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs Worthing Hospital, Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea and St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex, England. It was formed through a merger in 2009 and started with a substantial inherited deficit, mortality issues and poor performance.
Proposals to transfer musculoskeletal services in West Sussex to Bupa CSH - a partnership between Bupa and Central Surrey Health were abandoned in January 2015 when it was concluded that trauma services at the Trust would become unviable if the deal went ahead.[1]
It was the third acute trust in England to be rated “outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission.[2]
