"You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry" is a song by British girl group The Caravelles. The single reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1963,[1] and #6 on the UK Singles Chart. The song had previously charted in the US by Ernest Tubb, Moon Mullican, and Tennessee Ernie Ford.[2]
The song was originally recorded by Moon Mullican, Ernest Tubb and Jimmy Dorsey in 1950.
"You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry" was also recorded by Billie Davis in 1963. Her version remained unreleased until her compilation Watcha Gonna Do? was released in 2007.
"You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry" was again recorded by Ceil Clayton in 1964 and again re-released in 1968. Her versions appeared in her debut album "Ceil Clayton" and later on in her second album "I meet the Nicest People" under "Norman Records" label
