Mortegliano (Friulian: Mortean) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 60 km northwest of Trieste and about 14 km southwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 5,089 and an area of 30.0 km².[1]
The municipality of Mortegliano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Chiasiellis and Lavariano.
Mortegliano borders the following municipalities: Bicinicco, Castions di Strada, Lestizza, Pavia di Udine, Pozzuolo del Friuli, Talmassons.
