Shinya Shokudō (深夜食堂) also known in English as "Midnight Diner" is a Japanese manga series by Yarō Abe. It won the 55th Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga[1] and it was nominated for the 2nd Manga Taishō.[2] It was adapted into a 10-episode live-action television drama in 2009, followed by second season in 2011. In 2015, a live action film was released by director Joji Matsuoka starring Kaoru Kobayashi as The Master. The show is about a late night diner open from midnight to dawn and the stories of its odd-ball patrons.[3]
